I’m Mara. I imagine therapy as a conversation where you can set down the effort of seeming okay.
Mara Ellis is a fictional practitioner. This page demonstrates a practice’s voice, not real clinical credentials.
What guides the work
A loss or transition doesn’t happen in isolation. Family, culture, relationships, resources, and the roles you carry all shape what it means to you. I won’t assume I know your experience from a label.
You can tell me when a question misses the mark or when you’d like a different pace. We can return to what you want from our conversations as your needs change.
Relief and sadness. Love and anger. Wanting things to change and missing how they were. We don’t need to choose the more acceptable feeling before we can talk.
The first conversation
You wouldn’t need to prepare a life history. We might start with what made you consider therapy now, what feels difficult in your week, or what you’re hoping will be different about having someone to talk to.
We would also discuss practical boundaries: confidentiality and its limits, communication between sessions, fees, and what to do when support is needed outside a session. You should have space to ask questions before agreeing to work together.
This concept imagines individual therapy for adults, rather than couples therapy, medication management, or crisis care. A real therapist would discuss their training, license, and scope with you directly.
The practical details
A small first step
A little about what brings you here. A few practical questions. Room to decide what comes next.
